    Kirsten Hansen

    Head Nurse

    Kirsten qualified as an RVN in April 2024 though has worked in the veterinary industry since 2008, working at our sister branch Orford Lane. Kirsten joined the Birchwood team in June 2024 as Head Nurse. At home Kirsten has a rescue cat Tilly & Border collie Rufus. When Kirsten is not at work she enjoys going for long, adventurous walks with Rufus and plays netball twice a week in a small competitive league.

    Faye Hampson-Jones

    Registered Veterinary Nurse

    RVN

     

    Faye qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2013 and previously worked at Beech House Vets for 6 years where she also trained and enjoyed gaining a variety of experience in a busy practice. She has been here from the day Birchwood Vets was opened with her colleague Paige. Faye has a passion for cats and is the clinics Cat Advocate for the ISFM Cat Friendly practice programme. Her weakness for feline friends means that at home, Faye has 4 cats – all black. Crazy Pinky who she hand reared from one week old, lovely Elsa who she adopted from Warrington Animal Welfare, Chester who loves to play fetch and sweet Wendy who is in love with Chester. In her spare time she likes to travel with her husband and takes part every year in RunDisney at Disneyland Paris.

    Paige Dorney

    Registered Veterinary Nurse

    RVN

    Paige joined the Beech House reception team in 2015, and started nursing shortly afterwards. In 2017, when Birchwood opened, Paige joined the team here. She qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2020, and has a particular interest in Cat Friendly practices, and loves inpatient care. In her freee time she likes to spend time with her family, friends and Ragdoll, Pepper.

    Gemma Coker

    Registered Veterinary Nurse

    RVN

    Gemma joined the team in March 2018, to enable her to pursue a career in her love of animals. She enjoys all aspects of her job but mainly giving all the animals a fuss! She enjoys spending time with her husband Andy and visiting new places. She owns 6 cats, Joey, Monty, Blue, Tiffany, Archie and Teddy. Teddy became her newest addition when he was brought in as a stray at 4 weeks old. Gemma is heading towards completing her training to become a fully qualified veterinary nurse.

    Olivia Goodenough

    Auxiliary Nurse

    Olivia joined the Birchwood team in April 2021. She’s currently an auxiliary nurse but is aiming to start training towards her goal of being an RVN in the near future. She has 3 cats, Benji, Bruce and Scrag and is getting a new addition, a Labrador puppy called Sushi, soon. She loves hiking, watching sunsets, and being outdoors.

    Jeanette Thornbury

    Receptionist

    Jeanette joined Birchwood vets in November 2023 bringing with her 10 years of veterinary receptionist experience. Jeanette enjoys going for walks with her cockerpoo Bailey and spending time with her three grandchildren. Jeanette also has a keen interest in musical theatre shows.
